Project Description: As a professional developer, you will join an elite team of a 3-5 software-inclined physicists, engineers and mathematicians developing, operating and supporting a an integrated tool for simulation and optimizing the logistics of offshore wind farm construction. The tool is widely used within our organisation for planning and budgeting the construction of our offshore wind farms. Formally, the tool is anchored in our department, The Numerical Competence Centre, and we are in direct contact with our users as we supply design, development and support for the tool. The project is gaining speed and requests are coming in fast, which is why we need assistance on a variety of features such as UI improvements, simulation model updates and optimization. The model and application is a stand-alone desktop application implemented in C# with several interfaces. We are engaged, challenge assumptions and the status quo, and have the freedom to do things right with low overhead. We cater to the needs of our users (not necessarily what they say, they need). As we formally own the tool, we are very careful with our design, and development decisions rarely take the easy way out. We are strong in physics and numerical methods, and are software dev enthusiasts. We need a resource where the scope is focused on Python with importance to have background/proven skills in mathematical modelling and or physics Requirements: We are looking for someone versatile, positive, thorough and highly skilled in the following: - Python as the primary development ecosystems - DevOps and associated tool ecosystem (we use Azure DevOps as well as JetBrains' suite) - Best practices in programming and software development - Mathematical modelling / physics background is an advantage.
